Olio is a modern day jazz production meant to introduce artistic awareness for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. As a production company, Olio is comprised of artists, musicians, dancers, and poets. Olio is a homogenous mixture of variety acts in which each performer relates and appreciates each other's artistic forte. The notion of communicating through call and response between each performer and the audience creates a dynamic flow that is exciting and entertaining to all viewers alike. The integration of jazz music and dance as one identity are prevalent throughout the show. The emphasis is on jazz roots and its relationship to modern culture; how the past affects the present, and how it will influence the future.

The 2010 Jazz/Swing Dancing Music Video Contest

Seattle Vintage Jazz Dance would like to announce... the Second Annual Seattle Jazz/Swing Dancing Music Video Contest! The first contest was a resounding success, and we'd like to follow this up with an even better contest! We've given you more time to work on it, and more music to choose from!

Have you ever watched one of the old-time soundies and thought to yourself that you'd like to be in one of those? Have you ever thought that swing dancers could create a great music video? Do you think you can get away with videotaping a Charleston routine on top of the Space Needle?

You now have a chance to let your imagination go wild and and create what might become the best jazz dance music video in Seattle! This year's contest includes permission to use music by the Solomon Douglas Swingtet as well as the Big Bang Jazz Band!

Prizes include a $700 cash prize and 40 free admission passes to the HepCat Productions weekly swing dance.

If you wish to submit an entry to the contest, please read through this web site, especially the FAQ section. The contest deadline is April 15, 2010. You may enter, or participate in, as many videos as you'd like. See contest rules for details.

The Handsome Little Devils
Mike, Cole, Jason and Dave are four fantastically talented people with a Vaudeville show that has played everything from small venues to packed theatres, to television. If you are looking for corporate entertainment, they are the people to call. Visit their site at http://handsomelittledevils.com

I was really happy to help Mike and Cole choreograph a multidisciplinary dance piece for their show, which they mastered, reworked and added their own flair to until it became one of the most beloved pieces in their repertoire.

They are doing a big show at the Aurora Fox on November 7th and 8th.

 

CMDance
cmDance is the non-profit dance promotion organization run by Caryn Carbanaro and many other people in Denver. They run 3 major Lindy events per year, and 1 major Tango event.

Rocky Balboa is the next event, coming up at the last weekend in February.
